An Off Season Adventure
Time to Kill
By James Stuart
Four friends. One missing woman. And nobody they can trust.
The season is over. Four friends who guide kayaking trips out of a Welsh outdoor centre have a few weeks to themselves and one more Highland river to run before winter. In a pub in Tyndrum, Lee meets a barmaid who calls herself Stephanie.
Days later, a few lines buried in a newspaper describe a missing woman with the same face and a very different name. By the time Lee goes back, she has vanished, leaving one hidden warning behind: do not trust the police.
Jake, Ryan, Rupert and Lee have no official help, no weapons and no right to be there. What they have is a decade of climbing, paddling and caving together, and the nerve to use it. But the people who took her are patient, careful and a long way ahead of them, and what lies under a Highland hillside is worse than anyone imagined.
